Director of Strategy
GYK is seeking a senior leader responsible for developing and overseeing innovative brand strategies and marketing plans that drive client impact and overall agency growth. You are a constantly curious and a passionate problem solver who has a deep understanding of consumer behavior, market trends, communication planning, digital marketing and emerging technology and have proven experience in crafting data-driven insights that drive actionable strategic plans. The Director collaborates closely with creative, account, and media teams, ensuring strategic alignment across all campaigns while maintaining a strong client-facing presence. They also lead a team of strategists, provide thought leadership, and contribute to new business development, consistently delivering impactful solutions that meet client objectives and drive measurable results.
Responsibilities
Serve and act as the lead strategist/planner on several key agency accounts and lead a group of integrated team members across multiple disciplines to deliver quality plans that inspire unique creative ideas that drive brand and business impact
Ultimately responsible for the strategy offering at GYK
Develop and lead comprehensive brand and marketing strategies aligned to achieve and exceed client goals.
Collaborate with creative, account, and media teams to ensure strategic consistency across campaigns.
Conduct market research, consumer insights, and competitive analysis to inform decision-marking and have a passion for unique insight development
In-depth understanding of how to preform first party research and knowledge and understanding of strong secondary research tools.
Identify growth opportunities for client and the agency, proposing innovative solutions to client’s business problems.
Stay ahead of industry trends to drive thought leadership and innovation.
Mentor and manage our team of strategists, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
Create communication plans and messaging strategies that help to bring campaign strategies to life for all identified audiences
Fluent in the development of customer personas and consistently asking how our marketing can better influencer our customer segments
Support new business development efforts through compelling pitch strategies and presentations.
Strong creative brief writing and passionate about working with creative teams to bring out the best ways to creativity breakthrough for our clients
Maintain the agency’s core values, professional standards, and oversee the development of the individuals within the strategic planning and activation department to ensure future leadership is derived from within the agency
Skills
8 to 15 years of experience in advertising, marketing, or brand strategy, preferable within an agency setting
Ability to develop complex integrated marketing plans encompassing all mediums
Strong understanding of consumer behavior, market trends, and digital marketing ecosystems.
Exceptional presentation and communications skills, with the ability to influencer and inspire.
Proven track record of delivering successful campaigns and driving business growth.
Proficiency in research tools, analytics platforms, strategic frameworks and knowledge of how to conduct first-party research
A proven leader who’s able to inspire, challenge and complement internal teams
Creativity and a results-oriented mindset to develop innovative, effective strategies.
Ability to maintain and meet client deadlines
Ability to mentor junior team members
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or advertising
Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, keynote a plus
